There are several different awards for which HESAA students are eligible. These awards are provided through GASPA, the HEA department, the Graduate School and Buffalo State. Students should consider all opportunities and note the timelines for application and eligibility requirements.
The HESAA Collective Award recipients are nominated and voted upon by students in the HESAA program. Students can nominate a peer and/or self-nominate for these awards. Nominations will be accepted in the Spring Semester.
The HEA Award recipients are nominated and determined by the HEA faculty and are presented at the annual HEA Awards Banquet. Students may not apply for these awards.
The SUNY Chancellor’s Award and President’s Medal are the two most distinguished awards presented at the institutional level. The HEA department will nominate a HESAA student for consideration after conducting a departmental nomination and selection process. Students who are interested in being considered for these awards should review the award criteria and speak with a faculty about your interest and candidacy. Interested students will be asked to submit the Award Nomination Form (will be provided by the department) to the HEA department to determine full consideration and advancement as a candidate.
