About

The Adult Education accelerated pathway is for selected students currently seeking a bachelor’s degree who are interested in pursuing a professional career in adult education and/or human resource development. An Adult Education degree prepares individuals to teach their specialty in community colleges; to work in community engagement projects; to conduct literacy, personal development, and workforce-preparation programs; to prepare adult educators for work in grassroots movements and social justice efforts; and for careers in organizational training and development/human resource development.

Enrollment in the Adult Education accelerated pathway allows candidates to begin the graduate course work for the M.S. Adult Education program while they complete their bachelor’s degree.

Candidates in the pathway must have at least a 3.00 undergraduate GPA prior to enrollment in the initial graduate course(s).  For most candidates, this will be at the end of their junior year (sixth semester). Approved candidates in the Adult Education accelerated pathway will be able to take up to three graduate courses (9 credits) over the course of their senior year (or last two semesters).

Possible courses* include:

  • ADE 500 Intro to Adult Ed
  • ADE 600 Adulthood & Development
  • ADE 608 Instructional Design
  • HRD Elective Course

* Courses will be selected in consultation with the Coordinator of the Adult Education program.
