PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS

  1. Learning Narrative (essay) 

Describe your professional work experience as it pertains to the student learning outcomes (SLOs) of the course you are challenging. The Learning Narrative should cover three major areas:

  1. A clear description of theories or principles that may be supported within the course. Use proper APA citation.
  2. A concise account of your learning, including a description of the circumstances in which your learning was acquired (i.e. work experience, trainings, etc.).
  3. An analysis of the knowledge you acquired, including an evaluation of your competency and reflection on your learning (i.e. what you learned).

Length: There is no standard length.  The course challenge is based on content.  Focus on what you learned, connecting theory to practice.

Submit at least two pieces of evidence to further support your learning or achievement of the course SLO’s. These documents should be addressed within your Learning Narrative, specifically addressing how they connect to course student learning outcomes.

  • Job description/responsibilities
  • Supervisor letter of verification
  • Performance appraisal
  • Certificates or badges for skill development through workshops, training, or seminars
  • Licenses
  • Honors/Awards
  • Work samples:
    • Reports/manuals you authored
    • Presentations, training, or workshops you created (i.e. PowerPoint, Slide Decks, etc.)
    • Video presentations, interviews, podcasts, or other digital media
  • Any other components you consider relevant to the course challenge.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The portfolio will only be viewable by faculty in the Higher Education Administration & Adult Education department.

SUBMISSION

All items should be submitted via email (in one pdf document) to the Program Coordinator/Department Chair.
